  1. We are in a new venue this year, and there is limited capacity. We ask that you only register if you are committed to attending. Our goal is to ensure that all seats are filled so that these incredible teachings can reach those who will benefit from them.

  2. Doors open at 9:30 am, and we will check in all reserved guests until 10:30. If registered guests are not at check-in by 10:30, they will be considered walk-ins. RSVP guests will also have a special pass that will give them priority to the classes. If a class is full, those with walk-in passes will be asked to choose another class.

Class Description

The Anatomy of an Herbal Formula: Formulation is where herbalism becomes real, where the entirety of the client intake, evaluation and assessment comes to fruition with a tangible remedy that will heal them. It is also one area of herbalism where we as herbalists can unite our knowledge and creativity.

But many herbalists lack a strategic approach to formulation. Oftentimes plants are thrown willy-nilly together, combining all the herbs “good for” a certain condition, a shotgun approach, with the kitchen sink thrown in for good measure. These haphazard “formulas” often lack clarity, focus, and direction. Ultimately, they’re less likely to work.

This class will cover the fundamentals of strategic formulation principles for the holistic herbalist, with a goal to craft a custom designed remedy to address the whole person, not just the disease. We’ll focus on the primary functions of a formula, the various components it should contain, how to think through the primary properties, actions, and energetics needed. The concepts of synergy, sympathy, antipathy, and organ appropriation will also be covered, along with the practice of modular formulation for the busy practitioner. You will leave the class with a more balanced and well-thought out approach to crafting custom herbal formulas.
