HR Generalist

Location: Eugene, Oregon

General Description:   This is a full-time, fast-paced position which requires working under strict deadlines. The Human Resources Generalist executes the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including: recruitment, hiring, and interviewing staff; HR data and document management; administering payroll; assisting with benefits and leave; and enforcing company policies and procedures. This job requires excellent organizational skills, confidentiality, and accuracy. The candidate must be warm, inclusive, and accessible to support staff throughout their employment life cycle.

The starting wage for this position is $23.50/hr. DOE

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Be dependable – consistently at work and on time, follow instructions, and respond to management feedback.

  2. Be proactive – continue to develop skills, gain additional knowledge, and solicit feedback for improved performance.

  3. Thoroughly understand, follow, and enforce all MRH policies and procedures along with applicable laws and guidelines for employee privacy, confidentiality, etc.

  4. Report any health, safety, or equipment issues to appropriate personnel related to issue and area.

  5. Engage in creating and maintaining a positive, ethical, and productive department and workplace.

  6. Act as employee relations liaison for all employees within the organization. This position requires knowledge of MRH policies, products, and procedures to answer questions with confidence and accuracy.

  7. Communicate with the HR Director and HR Manager about general company happenings on a regular basis.

  8. Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.

  9. Coordinate onboarding process for all new hires.

  10. Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation; disciplinary matters; terminations and COBRA; bill reconciliations; recognition and morale.

  11. Coordinate and provide follow-up on unemployment claims, employee references, verification of employment requests, liens/garnishments, income withholdings, and any requested employment data.

  12. Follow HR procedures to process payroll and distribute paychecks accurately and in a timely manner.

  13. Maintain electronic and physical file management including personnel and medical records.

  14. As directed, provide guidance to employees and management regarding HR policies and practices.

  15. Provide support to HR team related to conflict resolution, investigations, and HR law and compliance.

  16. Direct questions, inquires, and complaints to correct management personnel.

  17. Coordinate, schedule, and set up the meeting room(s) for upcoming meetings.

  18. Post company announcements electronically and physical flyers at various company locations.

  19. Willingness to learn and perform new procedures and use new equipment/technologies.

  20. Possess a valid, clean Oregon Driver’s License.

  21. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in Human Resources field.
  • SHRM-CP preferred.

Physical Requirements (may include but are not limited to):            

  • Must be able to sit for periods of time while either on the phone and/or performing data entry duties (typing, using a mouse, etc.).
  • Minimal physical requirements to include associated standing, bending, and/or stooping to complete routine office tasks.

  • Minimal exposure to herb dust and strong aromatics.

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
