Wholesale Relations Specialist 

Location: Eugene, Oregon

General Description: This is a full-time, fast-paced position that is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s CPG retail business plan. This position is a new and integral part of the continued growth and success of Mountain Rose Herbs’ Wholesale Department, stationed at our Headquarters in Eugene, Oregon with minimal travel to start. This position requires a minimum of three years’ experience in the natural products and CPG industry with an emphasis on creating and expanding the market share to increase revenue.

This position is scheduled onsite Monday through Friday 7:30am- 4:00pm

 This position begins at $30.00/hour DOE with benefits after 90 days.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Ability to perform quick and accurate work with a strong attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate competently with the CED, particularly for any questions, concerns or issues that arise.
  • Must be comfortable with managing personal workflow and communicating updates with CED.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, and a professional and cheerful demeanor both with customers as well as fellow MRH Staff.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well with others in a team orientated environment.
  • Ability to learn, retain, and appropriately apply detailed information quickly.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit accurate and efficient typing skills with an emphasis on correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Basic computer knowledge in an MS Office environment as well as the ability to learn industry specific software applications.
  • Possess herbal knowledge, especially geared towards the organic/natural foods industry, as well as a willingness to learn more.
  • Possess a valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Participate in both local and overnight travel to attend such events as trade shows, promotional sales calls to both potential and existing customers, and other travel to events as required.
  • Ability to "shift gears" at a moment's notice and maintain a “Customer First” professional demeanor.

Essential Job Functions:

Market Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities within the grocery retail, apothecary, food service, and holistic practitioner channels.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for increasing volume and distribution with retail partners.

 

Business Development and Sales:
  • Proactively identify and secure new customers through targeted outreach, as well as manage inbound customer inquiries across various channels such as Lifestyle/Boutique, Natural CPG Retail, Wellness/Fitness, and Food Service.
  • Alongside leadership, co-develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth and expand market share within the designated markets.
  • Identify and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers in the targeted sectors.
  • Generate leads, conduct cold calls, and schedule meetings to present our products effectively.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and contracts to prospective clients.
  • Provide market intelligence on local, regional, and national activities across various channels.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly KPIs.
  • Negotiate terms and close deals to achieve sales targets and revenue objectives.

 

Relationship Management:
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop and nurture new relationships with prospective accounts to establish a foundation for repeat sales and long-term partnerships.
  • Demonstrate strong creative thinking and offer innovative solutions to problems across various sectors.
  • Exhibit a deep personal conviction towards sustainability, social responsibility, zero waste practices, and making a positive impact on society.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to new and existing clients, create opportunities to build new client initiatives, demonstrate understanding of their business needs and provide tailored solutions to drive their success.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of client initiatives.

 

Collaboration and Partnership:
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align business development strategies with overall company objectives.
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and distribution channels to expand market reach and enhance product offerings.
  • Attend industry trade shows to create new customer partnerships, build industry knowledge, and establish valuable connections.
  • Maintain and update the CRM database to capture all key information for cross-functional departments and other internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with leadership to co-create weekly and monthly goals and objectives, ensuring the alignment of individual and team targets with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide weekly market activity reports to leadership, including objectives, accomplishments, competitive activity, special projects, and specific needs.
  • Provide market and competitive brand updates to the supervisor, including timely and accurate communication of changing field conditions that may affect volumes, as well as staffing changes at distributors and competitors.
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of marketing and sales initiatives, including programs, point of sale materials, advertising, etc.
  • Qualifications:

    • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or related roles in the CPG industry.
    • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and building strategic partnerships.
    • Strong knowledge of the natural grocery retail space, demonstrating established relationships with key decision-makers both regionally and nationally.
    • Demonstrated understanding of apothecary, food service, and holistic practitioner sectors, including key players, trends, and challenges.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion abilities, with a focus on achieving win-win outcomes.
    • Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive informed business decisions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM software (HubSpot).
    • Must be able to work in-person at MRH’s Headquarters in Eugene, OR. This is not a remote position.
    • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time as needed, including regionally and/or nationally.
